At Saddle Creek Orthodontics, we believe there’s nothing more fulfilling than giving back. One of the cool ways that we have been able to give back in the last couple of years is through our partnership with the Smiles for Palmer Campaign. When we first formed a partnership with Palmer Home for Children, we didn’t know how truly life-changing the program would be – but three years later, we are now proud, with the help of our patients, to have been able to donate over $10,000 to this local foster family support organization and we plan to continue to do so for many years to come.
This year’s campaign is not over! It starts in May each year as we celebrate National Foster Care Month, and this year, we are raising money through the end of June! Read on to find out more.
Embrace Memphis & the Smiles for Palmer Campaign
The Smiles for Palmer Campaign is simple, thoughtful, and effective, and it all begins with Saddle Creek’s very own Embrace Memphis non-profit. Through Embrace Memphis, we provide several ways to donate for people looking to improve their smiles while supporting their communities at the same time.
Embrace Memphis
Designed to support families in foster care, this initiative raises funds for orthodontic treatment throughout the year. Our patients can contribute by adopting our adorable mascot, Sully the Sloth, or by purchasing T-shirts and Dippin Dots at Saddle Creek Orthodontics. All proceeds go towards reducing the financial burden of orthodontic treatment for foster families, all while engaging our patients in a fun orthodontic experience.
Summer Service
In addition to our patient’s regular contributions throughout the year, during the month of May, we celebrate National Foster Care Month. This is when we take the extra initiative to partner with the Smiles for Palmer Home Campaign. During the months of May and June, we donate $50 from every patient’s down payment for braces and give it to the Palmer Home in Memphis to put towards the work that they do with local foster families.
This means that as our patients start their journey towards a brighter smile, they’re also making a significant impact on the lives of foster children in our community.
About the Palmer Home for Children
For over 125 years, the Palmer Home for Children has been a beacon of hope for children in need. This non-profit organization has dedicated itself to providing care for children in the foster system, including educational and emotional support and more. Their mission is to empower children in critical situations to reach their true potential by creating restorative environments that support healthy development and nurture resilience.
Palmer Home for Children operates on the Whole Child Initiative. This initiative is based on four core principles: Whole Story, Whole Child, Whole Team, and Whole Caregiver. By considering the child’s entire history, addressing their unique physical, emotional, educational, social, and spiritual needs, developing a trauma-responsive plan of care through a collaborative team, and ensuring the health of caregivers, Palmer Home seeks to help vulnerable children overcome trauma and thrive in home, school, and community life.
This holistic approach resonates with the mission of Saddle Creek Orthodontics, and we hope that our donations make a true impact on the lives of children in need.
