With every day that passes, we’re seeing more and more things get back to some version of “normal.” It’s been wonderful to reunite with family and friends, resume activities we’ve been missing, and pick up where we left things a little over a year ago. For many of us, that means eating out at some of our favorite restaurants again! Whether you’re still feeling a little nervous about sitting indoors for a meal or just want to enjoy all the beautiful weather we’ve been having, here are our top 5 patio dining experiences in Germantown & Collierville this summer!

Hickory Tavern

4600 Merchants Park Circle

Collierville, TN 38017

If you’re looking for a place you can kick back with friends and catch the game over a couple of drinks, try Hickory Tavern! This neighborhood bar has fresh food with a fun twist, like their Korean-style steak tacos and Pow Pow Shrimp appetizer. Their brunch menu features the Mega Mary and the monster Chicken Wafflewich for those in need of something more substantial! Hickory Tavern is a small chain, but we give them extra points for sourcing local and regional products whenever they’re able to. They play all the big games and have some incredible playlists going, so stop by with the gang for good food, great music, and your favorite sports on the big screens.

Cafe Piazza

139 South Rowlett St.

Collierville,TN 38017

Cafe Piazza is a Collierville favorite, nestled in a cozy corner near the historic Town Square. This unique eatery is actually a 1900s home that has been renovated to provide an inviting atmosphere and relaxed setting! There are plenty of period details to appreciate inside, including authentic hardwood floors and coal-burning fireplaces. The porch offers a great view of the Square and lets you enjoy the breeze as you wait for your homemade entrees. Pat’s Chicken Salad is a local legend, and the specialty pizzas can be customized to suit any taste. Be sure to leave room for dessert, though! Every one is made from scratch with love by Mary Beth, the wife of owner Pat Lucchesi, for a truly delicious family affair.

City Silo Table + Pantry

5101 Sanderlin Ave #104b

Memphis, TN 38117

City Silo’s motto is “fueled, not full.” Don’t let that distract you from the flavor explosion that’s about to happen, however! This Germantown juice bar and cafe has all the bases covered, from vegan and vegetarian to gluten-free carnivore. That means creative clean eating for the whole family, like their Greece Lightning and Jam Session small plates and Treehouse Social sandwich. And that’s before we get into their incredible range of fresh-squeezed juices, sublime smoothies, and health-boosting wellness elixirs!

The best part, aside from fresh food and drinks bursting with flavor? City Silo is proud to foster relationships with local farmers, use their products responsibly, and provide every customer with carefully chosen ingredients that are humanely and consciously raised. You can feel good about what you’re eating and where you’re eating it.

Dyer’s Cafe

101 N. Center Street,

Collierville, TN 38017

Memphians have been enjoying Dyer’s world famous burgers for over a hundred years, and their latest location in Collierville makes it easier than ever to find out what the fuss is all about! Elmer “Doc” Dyer opened his first Dyer’s Burgers in 1912, and the restaurant uses his original way of cooking burgers to this day. By preparing their patties using “ageless” grease, this legendary diner produces burgers that have been featured on MSN.com, Extreme Cuisine, Good Morning America, and even Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives by Guy Fieri

If you’re feeling adventurous, Dyer’s offers several takes on the traditional burger, like the Beale Street Blues Burger and the Downtown BBQ Bacon Burger. There’s also open-faced Split Dogs with your choice of toppings, Pasquale’s Tamales, and a variety of sandwiches and snacks to suit every appetite. This is one of the family-friendliest places on our list, so don’t be afraid to sit outside with your kids in tow while devouring some delectable Dyer’s burgers.

Forest Hill Grill

9102 Poplar Pike,

Germantown, TN 38138

This pub-style spot is locally owned and operated, offering casual comfort food for family and friends to share. Formerly the Belmont Grill, Forest Hill Grill is generally considered to be the “only real saloon” in Germantown! If you’ve never had the chance to sample a Belmont Burger, you’ll be happy to know that the current owner has kept it around—this beauty is a regular winner in the hamburger category of Memphis Magazine’s “Best Of” poll. For fans of mac’n’cheese, you won’t be able to beat the selection here—get it plain, or pick one of their tantalizing combinations, like Buffalo Chicken, BBQ, or Crawfish (!!). There’s also a fine selection of wines, cocktails, and beers to choose from, so you won’t have any trouble finding the perfect match for your entree or appetizers.
