Our New Daughter Libby

As I mentioned in my last blog post, my wife and I just welcomed our first daughter into the world a little over 4 weeks ago. Her name is Elizabeth “Libby” Kate Fagala. Since being born Libby has gained an impressive 1.5 lbs. and grown 1.5 inches! Looks like we have an overachiever! Anna (who we already know is an overachiever) has made a remarkably quick recovery and was even back at the office this past week helping me with new patient consultations. She won’t return full-time to the office until the last week of October.

Big Brother Charlie has been adjusting well and we are proud of him! He is very excited to have a new baby sister toy possession. He loves to give hugs and kisses to his “Cutey Girl Libby” as he calls her. I have remained busy at the office seeing patients with the help of Anna’s brother, Michael, who volunteered to fill in and allow Anna a sort of “maternity leave.” We have been so blessed with help from family members and meals from close friends and our church family! We could not do this alone! Some of the highlights from Libby’s first three weeks have been…

Family enjoying a day out with two children, one holding a colorful snow cone and the other an ice cream treat, while a baby sleeps in a car seat, reflecting the community-oriented spirit of Saddle Creek Orthodontics.

Our first family outing was to the new Rainbow Lake Playground at Overton Park. Libby was just two days old! Charlie savored the opportunity (as he always does) to run around in circles and then climb on everything climbable (read: literally everything). A well-timed Ice Cream Truck appearance made for a nice “cherry” on top of our perfect afternoon outing.

“I wonder. Will I make 8 or 9 dirty diapers today? Hmm…Decisions, decisions.”

Charlie is so proud of his baby sister (and his pumpkin that he painstakingly picked out from a group of hundreds at a local pumpkin patch).

We’re all a little tired with the new baby around…
Here’s Charlie letting a little yawn sneak out at the Zoo. Anna picked up Charlie’s cute “Big Brother” embroidered shirt on Etsy.

Fall is in full effect and Charlie officially has an obsession with pumpkins!

Libby got to attend a wedding 1 day before her official due date (when she was only a week old). She slept most of the time, but got to dance with her mom and dad for one song.

We’ve also been blessed to start some really wonderful new patients over the past couple of weeks: Clay, Carly, Sarah, KyLeigh, Gabrielle, and Sergio! You can keep up with these patients and more on our Facebook Page. Thanks for the continued support and we’ll see you soon!
