Memphis Holiday Guide 2018

We’re not really sure how it happened, but there are only two weeks left until Christmas is here! If you’re anything like us, then the holiday season sneaked up on you, and you’re feeling the pressure of finalizing your gift list. To help you out, we’ve rounded up a collection of some of our favorite shops around town. Who doesn’t love candles? Nobody, that’s who, and Downtown Candle Company make some of the best around. Each candle is hand poured from 100% pure soybean wax, has a cedar wooden wick, and is scented with exclusively selected essential oils. They also stock soy melts, bath bars, and delicious room sprays, so it’s the perfect place to pop in for stocking stuffers and Secret Santa gifts.

This little gem may not seem like an obvious choice for Christmas shopping, but their homemade macarons, cupcakes, and cookies are full of flavor and make a truly sweet gift. The shop itself is beautiful, like a little bit of Paris parked in the heart of Memphis, and they also carry cute calendars, teas, stationery items, and books.

This place is what we call “the good kind of weird.” They have a selection of gifts made by regional artists and craftspeople, including limited editions and one-of-a-kind pieces created by artists with active studio practices. Like Falling Into Place, they also feature a unique selection of Memphis-themed items, as well as board games, adult coloring books, and other off-kilter offerings that are a lot of fun. For the bookworm in your family or circle of friends, Novel should be your first stop! As the go-to place in town for new book releases, this shop has all the popular books you’d expect, plus a wide selection of books about the city written by actual Memphians. Southern Muse is the largest women’s boutique in Collierville, and offers a wide variety of trendy clothing and accessories, along with home goods, candles, bath and body products, and jewelry. This is an excellent option if you’re looking for gifts that are stylish but with just the right touch of edginess to them.

My Cup Of Tea

My Cup of Tea was actually started as a marketplace ministry to “serve the growing specialty tea niche market in the Memphis area,” according to founder Mary Beth Bryce. It’s the only Memphis-based tea company, and provides training and employment opportunities to women in the Orange Mound community.

While they sell many of their herbal, black, and white teas through their online shop, their products are also stocked with a number of Memphis retailers, including the Dixon Gallery & Gardens, Novel Memphis, and Miss Cordelia’s. Look for their amazing holiday flavors, plus local favorites such as Bluff City Chai, Orange Mound Porch Peach, and Memphis Afternoon Chocolate Mint. You can support a Memphis business with a mission and surprise the tea lover in your life!
