Our Week at Saddle Creek, Part 3

Smiling children and orthodontist at Saddle Creek Orthodontics, showcasing braces and patient engagement in a welcoming environment, highlighting Memphis orthodontics and community involvement.

Despite the oftentimes insane humidity + heat, we love the summertime in Memphis. To be fair, it’s actually been a very pleasant summer in Memphis with more rain and cool temps than I can remember. Ironically, my family traveled to Seattle where they were experiencing their hottest temperatures in decades (all without air-conditioning), while Memphis was experiencing record lows (guess we’ll need to plan better next time…)

There is a never-ending list of things to do in Memphis during the Summer including visiting splash parks and the Zoo (for those of us with kiddos), free concerts at the Levitt Shell, a slew of new restaurants in Midtown, standing in long lines at Jerry’s Sno Cones, and keeping up with Memphis Grizzlies trade rumors, etc. etc. etc. We have loved our first full summer here at Saddle Creek Orthodontics. We love hearing about all of our patients’ summer camps, vacations, and carefree summer days (we wish we were sleeping in until 10am, too).

We are currently planning our 1st Birthday Party and, if you are reading this, you are invited! It will take place Thursday, July 31st from 4 pm – 7 pm. The Central BBQ food truck will be there with FREE dinner for our patients, referring offices, and guests. We will have door prizes (including an iPad mini), a photographer, and cake! You can reserve your free tickets here.

Our “Embrace Memphis” T-Shirt contest is in full force and our patients have already submitted several creative entries. Hunter sent us a view of the Big Island while Zach decided to rep our mutual Alma mater Harding University.
CONTEST DETAILS: We want you to take a photo of yourself wearing your Embrace Memphis shirt at your FAVORITE Greater Memphis location. Your favorite restaurant, park, church, museum, landmark, attraction…whatever! Then, post your photo to our Facebook page, tell us why you have chosen to embrace Memphis, and hashtag the post #EmbraceMemphis. At the end of the summer, we will choose 3 posts (most likes, most creative, and staff favorite) who will each win $50 gift cards. All participants will also be entered to win a free family vacation to COZUMEL!

We can’t tell if Cassidy is more excited about her Cotton Candy slush or her new braces! We’re hoping it’s the braces, but you gotta give it up to Sonic’s Happy Hour…it’s awesome.

Shalyn, Lindsay, and I grew up and graduated together at Crowley’s Ridge Academy in Paragould, Arkansas. It’s been over 12 years since graduation, so it really meant a lot to me that Shalyn chose to drive all the way from Jonesboro to come see us. Giving the gift of a new smile is what motivated me to study Orthodontics and it’s why I love going to work everyday. Getting to share this experience with an old friend is truly priceless. Congratulations on the new braces Shalyn! Can’t wait to see your beautiful new smile!!

Twin sisters Hannah and Olivia got their braces on side-by-side! They look a LOT alike (because science), but they are also extremely cool people, which is a nice bonus! They are so close that they plan to room together when they move off for college in a couple of years.
Sadly, they couldn’t name their “Favorite movie about twins.” My pick, of course, would be the appropriately named 1988 film Twins featuring “dead ringers” Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. I guess The Parent Trap (the 1961 original) would have been a pretty good choice too…

We loved celebrating America’s Birthday with a neighborhood parade, watermelon, deviled eggs and watching the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on TV. Hope you had a great 4th as well!

Join us next week (let’s be real, month) for a recap of our birthday celebration, summer wrap-up, and our contest winners! Keep posting your #EmbraceMemphis photos on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Lastly, we hope to see you at our birthday party Thursday!
