Our team will start by collecting digital x-rays, photos, and a model of your mouth. Our orthodontic, Dr. Kyle Fagala, will use this data to create your customized treatment plan based on your individual orthodontic needs. The process starts when a wire is inserted through the brackets that have been attached to your teeth. The placement of the brackets and wire is designed to provide customized pressure on all the teeth that need to be moved. When your braces put pressure on a tooth, cells called osteoblasts and osteoclasts form around its root. This pressure and bone remodeling slowly moves teeth into the correct position.
Remodeling requires constant pressure on your teeth, meaning that then the pressure is removed when your braces come off, your teeth can start to move back towards their former positions.
