Recently, Dr. Fagala had the chance to represent Saddle Creek Orthodontics at the 2018 Annual Session of the American Association of Orthodontics. In other words, SCO went to the AAO! This session took place in wonderful Washington, D.C. from May 4-8, and gave orthodontists all over the country the chance to hang out with friends and colleagues while learning from many expert presenters, who touched on the latest research and clinical experience related to topics such as facial esthetics,TADs/anchorage, biomaterials, Class II and Class III correction, retention, aligner therapy, and more.
Dr. Kyle speaks from the big stage
This year was an especially exciting experience as Dr. Fagala was invited to speak on digital marketing. His presentation was Monday, May 7, at 2:55 p.m. in Ballroom B, and he followed this up by participating in a panel discussion with Drs. Lance Miller and Neal Kravitz. This was Dr. Fagala’s first time speaking at an AAO conference, and it was a real honor!
During his lecture, Dr. Kyle gave attendees tips on growing their orthodontic practices by engaging their audience on social media, and shared his digital marketing secrets for social media sites. He also went over what he considers to be the best practices for SEO, web design, blogging, and Google ads, and his discussion on digital tools that optimize personal time and recommendations for delegating social media management were a big hit. All in all, it was a really great experience for Dr. Fagala and Saddle Creek Orthodontics, and one he would love to repeat in the years to come!
Neon Canvas has another great meeting
The 2018 Annual Session was also a big success for Neon Canvas, the digital marketing agency Dr. Fagala co-founded. Last year was the first year Neon Canvas attended an AAO conference, and the two team members who attended found that the exhibit hall was a fantastic place for orthodontists to network, catch up with old friends, and to learn all about the new products and treatment techniques making orthodontics such an exciting field to be in right now. Their time at AAO was a springboard for a period of marked growth and success, and this year, both the Neon Canvas booth and the team attending doubled in size! Not only were they able to connect and catch up with current clients, they also had the opportunity to meet many new contacts, building a stronger network and spreading the word about the distinct advantages associated with using a digital marketing boutique to build on the success of an orthodontic practice. Dr. Kyle’s family was even able to stop by the booth to check things out!
Dr. Kyle leads roundtable for residents
Dr. Kyle was also asked to lead a roundtable discussion for orthodontic residents. The roundtables took place Sunday afternoon at the AAO and over 200 residents attended. Dr. Kyle’s topic was on growing your practice with social media and he was fortunate to have an active table of very bright and soon-to-be successful orthodontists. This is the 2nd year Dr. Kyle has been asked to participate as a roundtable leader and hopes to do it again in the future.
Looking towards AAO 2019
The AAO meeting is always an excellent opportunity for orthodontists to reunite, share, and grow together as professionals. This year there were hundreds of lectures on a variety of topics and an enormous exhibit hall featuring over 3,000 exhibitors. It was an extremely fun experience, but also an important one as the doctors who attend meetings like these are able to continue improving the experience and orthodontic outcomes for their patients.
The 2019 AAO meeting will be held in Los Angeles, and Dr. Kyle is honored to have already been asked to speak not once, but twice. Thanks to the AAO for organizing such a wonderful meeting this year. We’ll see you again in 2019!
